The Boatyard at Beer have been boat builders and dinghy renovators since 1995. The team comprises three experienced boatbuilders; Kevin Driver who first started the business in 1994,
Adam Newton who has been apprenticed to and worked with the Boatyard
since the development of the business and Chris Clapp who joined us
a couple of years ago
Kevin has been boatbuilding all his life, previously employed by Rowsell and Morrison and Jon Turner Dinghies he decided to go it alone and established Wrecked'em Boatyard in Beer in 1994. He is passionate about building wooden boats which are constructed to an extremely high standard and has produced a number of Salcombe Yawls. He produces one off tooling and prototype boats and makes all our moulds.
Started work for Rowsell Boats in Exmouth at 16 building wooden and GRP boats and racing dinghies and worked for them for 20 years before starting and running his own business in Sidmouth successfully for the next 14 years, we were lucky enough to tempt him to work for us and he joined the Boatyard at Beer 2 years ago.
Having completed an extensive apprenticeship here at the Boatyard, Adam has considerable skills in construction and restoration of wooden boats as well as the laminating and tooling made to create our range of fibre glass dinghies. Adam has also worked extremely closely with Kevin during the construction of Salcombe Yawls.
